FORTUNATE FAILURES

概要：

"Fortunate Failures" is a kind of autobiography, with a paradoxical and alliterative emphasis on the good fortune brought to me by means of various failures, according to the Japanese sayings, "Shippai wa seiko no moto" (Failure is the beginning of success) and "Makeru ga kachi" (Losing is winning). Such have been various incidents in childhood, in boyhood during the war, in studies as a young Jesuit, in my journey to Japan, in my varied experiences as professor of Sophia University in Japan, and in the various tours I have arranged for my Japanese students in the British Isles, in Europe, and in the Holy Land.
