Everywhere in England is not only ideal for the sightseeing of tourists - except for the industrial areas round Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester - but also as a museum for those interested in English history, going back to prehistoric times.
The chapters are, therefore, arranged in historical order, beginning with Prehistoric and Roman Britain, before proceeding to England as such from the time the Angles and Saxons invaded the island from Germany in the fifth century AD. Some concession is also made to what is called "The Heart of England" in the home counties near London.
